In the midst of a lot of changes happening in the American kratom community, we were stoked to hear Joe Rogan talking about kratom with guests on his podcast. Rogan has been a huge advocate of kratom in the past and frequently opens up about using it and the effects he experiences from it.
During the October 12th episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast opened with Rogan and his guest Reggie Watts each drinking half of a kratom shot before diving in to discuss their own experiences using kratom. Watts, an American comedian, actor, and musician, shared that although everyone has different experiences with the botanical, he himself has only ever had positive outcomes. Both agreed that when they use smaller amounts of kratom on a regular basis, rather than a large amount at one time, they enjoy the effects more. They described these effects as feeling more relaxed yet still engaged. Watts noted that he prefers to use kratom during the evenings and especially during social engagements as it helps him calm down and become a better conversationalist.
In 2022, Rogan shared his kratom experiences with his guest and fellow comedian Tom Segura during the July 14th episode. The two compared how they felt using kratom capsules and liquid kratom extracts as a type of energizing pre-workout supplement. Rogan said in his experience using “a small amount is like a mild stimulant, like a cup of coffee” and he’s fascinated by how different amounts offer different effects. Tom Segura shared that he’s been using liquid kratom extracts rather than the capsules and he feels more confident and “ready to go” after.
While Joe Rogan and his guests share their previous experiences with kratom, they make sure to clarify that these are just that: their own unique experiences. Rogan and his guests don’t pretend to be experts or offer advice, rather they’re trying to open up a dialogue on this increasingly popular botanical.
