There are several natural herbs and supplements that have similar effects to kratom and are frequently used concurrently. However, each of these herbs is different and has unique effects when compared to kratom. Learn more about kava vs. kratom from the experts at The Kratom Company today.
First Looks
Back in the day, when our founders first learned about kratom, they were skeptical of its effects. It sounded too good to be true! An herb that could help with a variety of wellness concerns that doesn’t have noticeable side effects? Yet, it turns out that kratom performs exactly as advertised. So, why don’t more people use it?
Unlike CBD, kratom and, to an extent, kava, have suffered from a lack of exposure in the modern world. Many people still have no idea that kava and kratom exist. To bring more knowledge about these effective herbs to the mainstream, we’re going to break down the key differences between the two.
Kava & Kratom
The kava root is a kindred spiritual relative of kratom. Originating in tropical biomes, kava and kratom have been used for thousands of years in a variety of applications. Kava is widely legal and has very few drawbacks.
Our Kava Experience
You may have seen a kava bar near your local college campus or in an eccentric downtown district. Kava bars are increasing in popularity as an alternative to the traditional drinking and socializing experience.
In our exploration with each of these herbs, we’ve found that kava quickly provides a rather pleasant buzzing sensation with a notable pro-social impact. Each use lasts about 30 minutes, and you can continue to use more as desired. We’ve found that kava doesn’t really have any lasting impact; it just dissipates over time. Entirely safe and non-toxic, kava and kratom share a lack of side effects.
Because of its non-existent potential for addiction and clean come down, many people prefer kava to any other herbal remedy: no hangover, no crash, and no buildup of tolerance. While kava is available at many gas stations and convenience stores, most of the time, these are very low-quality products that won’t have the effects you want. Like CBD and kratom, kava requires a bit of research to find a vendor that sells premium products.
Similarities & Differences Between Kava & Kratom
While kava does have some of the same effects as kratom, we would compare it more to alcohol than a wellness-boosting herb. People who use kava are using it almost exclusively as a recreational substance. Kava has been known to provide something similar to the buzz of a single beer, but you won’t get woozy. If we had to compare kava to a kratom strain, we would say it’s vaguely similar to the effects of the more energetic kratom strains, like green or white. You can find both kava and kratom in powder, capsule, and concentrate forms.
Beyond these similarities, kava and kratom don’t have much else in common. Other than treating a case of the Monday morning blues, kava won’t have much of an effect on tension, discomfort, or mood.
Final Thoughts
Mother Nature has provided humanity with a wide range of substances to soothe our various ailments. While we believe that kratom, along with many other herbal products, can have a powerful, beneficial effect for many, we don’t think kava falls under the same category. Whatever your experience, just make sure you’re using legal, safe substances properly.
